There are many things that we as a people are afraid of but one of our greatest monsters is fear itself. It is human nature to be afraid but it is also human nature or a gift for many of us to overcome our fears. These fears that we have, whatever label that we give to them have the capacity to prevent us from doing things, going places or being our ultimate selves.
There is common sense fear, universal fear and self fear. The commonsense and universal fear are those that our natural instincts tell us to be afraid of. Self fear is the fear that we impose upon ourselves or let others and events place within us. It is the self fear that needs to be overcome, for a more fulfilling life journey.
The monster that is self- fear comes to us in many disguises or wears different clothes. It can be a phobia, it can be something that we have done or fear of something that has to be done. It can be something, someone or somewhere. However fear disguises itself or however we see what we fear, it tends to have a negative impact on our lives and thus it needs to be conquered.
We have our common fears and fears that we face differently but they are not going to go away, if they are not faced and or embraced. No fear is to be ridiculed, whether it be a phobia, fear of someone, the darkness, of a place, of flying or a fear of failure. The list of things to fear are as many as we are, if not more but also specific to who we are or have become. There are however also a number of ways to overcome those fears and you have to find your way.
Do not be afraid to speak your mind, if what you have to speak is good or positive and constructive. Do not be afraid to speak up at work or to your boss, if what you have to say makes sense or contributes to productivity or the work environment. Do not be afraid to speak to your partner, if something is troubling you or something that they said or did is troubling you. Do not be afraid of speaking publicly, if what you have to say will touch lives in a positive manner or contribute to the well being of others. Do not be afraid of starting something, if you have a great idea and so not stop until the idea becomes a reality. Do not be afraid of the pantry getting empty, lights going out or of failure because you are a survivor.
Do not be afraid of leaving your voice echoing in your environment or the world around you. Do not be afraid of leaving your footprints upon the world, however insignificant you might think they are or you could fail to leave a very important message others are waiting for or fail to leave a very important legacy behind you. Every day is an opportunity to make your mark upon your environment and the world but it does take some bravery and first you have to conquer any doubt or fears that you might have.
Wake up and conquer your fears and help others do the same. Wake up and do not be afraid of what lies ahead, for once you have overcome your fear, the road ahead is not as difficult as it is with fear by your side or within you.
Wake up and do not be afraid.
